"In answer to the question, "What do you like about Rob Lopez Handyman?," there are many aspects to like about Rob and the following is a testimony about a remarkable job he did with the placement of an air-conditioner in my apartment: I initially met Rob when someone purchased an air-conditioner for me and subsequently suggested I contact Rob to install it for me. She had not met him but read great reviews about him here on Next Door. Upon my reading reviews about how pleased people were with his work, I checked out his website (https://robonthejob.nyc/services). I was truly impressed to see the array of services he offers (mounting, painting, plumbing repairs, electrical repairs, furniture assembly, home repair, and window air air-conditioner installation). As I mentioned, I reached out to him regarding my need to have him install the air-conditioner my friend had purchased for me. For many people coming to my place to visit me or do work is not an easy feat because one has to climb 70 stairs to get to my apartment. In any event, from the moment I contacted him, I was impressed. As it happens I reached out to him on a Saturday night and he was courteous enough to pick up his phone and let me know he was on an escalator about to see a movie and that he would call me back. How rare it seems to be these days that people pick up their phone which one (at least I do) needs to happen when a job has to be done. Rob followed through, contacted me and we had an in depth conversation re the type of air-conditioner I needed installed and specifics re my living space. The type of a-c my friend had purchased for me was a portable variety that, as you probably know, allows one to have more “window space,” and Rob along with his colleague Leo, were very meticulous when they installed it. Unfortunately even though one can have more “window space,” with this type of appliance, it is not an efficient one if you live on the top floor of a brownstone, directly under a flat roof and the appliance they installed did not function. Of course the friend who purchased it had no way of knowing this, but upon Rob’s hearing that the air-conditioner he installed was not working for me, he volunteered to find one that would met my needs. Ultimately after he did this, Rob returned to my place, removed the malfunctioning ac and installed a more appropriate one. Moreover, he sent Leo to my place to help me prepare the malfunctioning ac for return, then he came back to finish a preparation regarding the return. The reason I’m giving you these play by play details is to let you have an idea of Rob’s commitment to his neighbors as well as his expertise. I am also thrilled to have learned that Rob — in addition to his many talents/skills — also can do repair work in gardens. As it happens I have a lovely garden but, unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond my control, the placement of one of my vines was violated. It broke my heart (understatement) to have this happen but it is something Rob can rectify and I’m truly looking forward to having him take care of that situation. I will post pictures when he has “fixed” my Autumn clematis but meanwhile my availing myself of Rob’s gifts and talents is something I cannot keep to myself!

"I found Rob on Nextdoor when I needed help after Home Depot wasn’t able to complete my quartz countertop installation. Quartz is much heavier than Formica and I had to have additional supports built to handle the additional weight. Rob not only built the support but worked with the countertop installers and clearly communicated with them and me in the process. He always arrived on time for every appointment and cleaned up any mess left behind. During this multi step repair job,  Rob was so careful with his measurements and attention to detail. He is not the guy that races through a job to save time or is content with “good enough”. He does the work the correct way and takes pride in his work. He came to my apt to take down some light fixtures and replace them with new ones, and ended up taking it upon himself to repair a switcher and helped to fix an outlet, all at no extra charge on his original quote (I paid him extra because he deserved it, but really appreciated that he did not go back on his initial price)!
